WHAT TO WEAR: BEACH WEDDINGS

IMAGINE VINCE CAMUTO RYAN GLADIATOR SANDAL

Wedding season is officially upon us! Being the hopeless romantic that I am, I love weddings! There's something magical about attending a loved one's special day and witnessing 2 people exchange their vows, saying "I do", dancing the night away and trying to catch the bride's bouquet (I still haven't caught one yet). It gives a sense of hope to those of us who aren't quite at that chapter in our lives and inspiration for when that day does come.

I have always been a fan of the beach and am always dreaming of my next tropical vacation. A beach wedding = goals. Last weekend I had the honor of attending a dear friend's wedding, which took place in Malibu, with the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop. It was casual, the weather was perfect, and the ceremony was intimate.

As much as I love weddings, the downside is that I never know what to wear. Picking the right outfit for a wedding is always difficult. Although the invitation may have suggestions like "cocktail attire" or "casual chic", etc., what exactly does that mean? Word of advice: you can never go wrong with wearing a dress. But what color? My go-to color is black and the dark color just doesn't seem appropriate for such a happy occasion. My second choice would be white, but white is completely off-limits for a wedding. Luckily, I've recently fallen in love with light pinks and found a dress that embraces the wind factor that a beach setting presents.

Now what about footwear? That is the real question. With a beach wedding, shoe options can be very limiting. For any other location, I would naturally gravitate towards heels, but how does on wear a cute pair of heels on the sand? The answer is you can't, unless you want to sink like quick sand with every step. Wedges? Doable, but still very tricky.

Thankfully, the Imagine Vince Camuto line came to the rescue at the most opportune time. The line is a collection of shoes that are dressy enough for special occasions, yet versatile for day-to-day wear. I opted for the Ryan, a gladiator sandal with rhinestone detail, exactly what I had been envisioning in my mind all along. I knew I needed a pair of flats, more specifically sandals. Since my dress was simple, my footwear needed to have that special "wow" factor. The Ryan features small silver rhinestone studs throughout, that glistened in the sun, and fetched compliments for me throughout the day and into the night. The neutral color makes it easy to style and I'll be wearing them all summer long. Stay tuned to see how I wear 'em in an everyday look!
