NEVER BASIC TEE

What I love about basic t-shirts is their versatility. When a t-shirt offers an endless amount of styling possibilities, it can never be truly deemed as "basic". I have an entire dresser dedicated to t-shirts, 3 drawers to be exact. A few months back, I fell in love with my current favorite t-shirts from attending the Peace Love Old Navy event (recap here). A grey boyfriend tee was in the gift bag and my obsession has shifted into high gears since then. I've collected the t-shirts in white, black, light pink, olive green, and white with black stripes (as worn above).

Why do I love them so much? They are made of a linen blend, which is perfect and breathable for hot summer days. I love the oversized boyfriend fit, as it's not skin tight and doesn't hug the body. Instead, it gives a casual, effortless, worn-in look that pretty much sums up my day-to-day style. It's almost embarrassing to share just how obsessed I am with these tees. Confession: there have been nights where I've worn them to sleep and incorporated the same shirt as part of my outfit the next day. If that's not love, I don't know what is.

On this particular day, I spent the entire day downtown. The day consisted of a lot of walking around, light shopping, coffee with friends, and a dinner date in the evening. Since I knew it would be a long day, I wanted to be comfortable and opted for Old Navy's Boyfriend Linen-Blend Tee. I paired it with denim shorts and comfortable walking sandals for my daytime activities, and made a few minor tweaks for the evening. Before heading to dinner, I switched out the sandals for a pair of heels and threw on a leather jacket to create a more edgy look. Don't be afraid to wear a t-shirt for a more dressed up look. I love them for night time occasions just as much because they are easy and unforced. Even if a little (or a lot!) of thought was put into the look, no one will know.

A few styling tips for wearing oversized boyfriend tees:
  • The fit is already a loose oversized fit, but I like to size up to exaggerate the look a bit.
  • The way you tuck in your shirt can instantly change the look. Play around with it to see what looks best on you and what you're most comfortable with.
  •  If you want to show a little more skin, try tying a side knot for a crop top look

  1. The boyfriend tee looks incredibly soft and comfortable! I'll have to swing by Old Navy sometime ;)

  2. Only downsides here was that I’m not sure if they were expecting such a crowd as they did not have nearly enough servers and sometimes it would take a really long time for service guy to come. But at lofty spaces they tried to keep a smiles on their face.
